FLEET WEEK IN SYDNEY.
ANOTHER DISPLAY LAST NIGHT. CONTRETEMPS OVER SATURDAY’S BANQUET. (united press association-copyright] (Received October 6, 10.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 6. The city and harbor were again illuminated to-night, and there was, a fireworks display and other festivities in honor of the fleet. Crowds visited the ships. There was a contretemps in connection with (Saturday's Town Hall banquet. Sir William Cullen, Chief Justice and Lieut.-Governor, was on circuit and his letter accepting the invitation to the banquet apparently miscarried, and his name consequently did not appear on the seat plan. At the eleventh hour it was learned that lie would be present and a place at the principal guest table was ticketed, but by a further mischance no cover was laid or chair provided, and before this could be remedied or an explanation, made Sir William left the ball.

The newspapers- feature Sydney’s welcome to the fleet. : The “Daily Mail” says the great example the'Commonwealth and New Zealand have set will bear fruit in the future. The “Daily Telegraph” says the protection o'f other seas in Imperial emergency is the one gleam light through the lowering clouds, and it is but the partial consummation of the Commonwealth naval ideal.
