RUGBY FOOTBALL.
POVERTY BAY UNION. WEEKLY MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held in the Disraeli, Street training sii-edi last evening, there being- present Messrs. .Buu-gc* (chairman), Maher, Hay, Howard, I'klmundbon, Doran, and ‘Turner (lion. secretary). Air. Doran, who had tho selection of a team to play against To Karakaon Saturday next reported- that owing to the calling up of a number of players to proceed to Treiifhu.nl with the next draft he was unable to- get a team together. It was decided to postpone the proposed trip for a -week in ordtar to obtain a team to visit the country town if possible. It was decided to limit the junior competition 'to four rounds and the third grade competition to three rounds. The case of; the Kaiti-Oity player who was ordered ‘off the field on Saturday last for striking an opponent was held over, and will be considered at a meeting to be held at the Royal Hotel at 5 o’clock this evening. Ivaiti-City Thirds protested against High, School for replacing a player by another player at half-time. The captain of tlie Kaiti-City team attended and asked permission to- withdraw the protest, as a mistake had been made. The following matches and referees were arranged! for Saturday next:— Junior.—High School v. Kaiti-City, No, 1 3 3 p-.iii, (Air. Burge). Third Grade.-—High School v. West End, No. 2, 3 p.in. (Mr. Turner).
