LAST YEAR'S YOTK EXCEEDED. DELAY OYER WAIPAOA BRIDGEI: Telegraph—Special Correspondent. WELLINGTON. July 28. In the House Sir James Carroll a skid the Minister of Public Works whether the progress made by the Gis-borne-Napier railway during the pas* year was in keeping with the importance of the undertaking. In his reply Air Fraser said thatlast year’s appropriation for this part of the East Coast main trunk railway amounted to £45.000. The expenditure to the 31st March was £45.908. so that the vote was exceeded. Tho reason for the delay in the erection of tho Waipnoa bridge was shortage of officers in the bridge-designing department, also the time that it- takes w obtain materials from England.
