ENTERTAINMENTS.

WORLD’S PICTURES. The new programme presented at the World’s Pictures last evening fully deserved the huge patronage bestowed upon it, the popular picture house being crowded to the doors at all sessions. The 11th instalment of “Trey o’ Hearts” was screened, and proved still more exciting than any of the previous instalments. Among the many startling features of the serial section is the death of Marropliat and jimmy. This is brought about in a most sensational maimer. Alan, Rose, Pndltlt and Barcus are being pursued by Afarrophat in a 100 h.p. motor, and to check the pursuers Alan uses a strong sluicing jet which blinds Marrophat’s chaffeur. Ilis loss of control caused the machine to plunge over a cliff, coursing madly to destruction. The finale shows the unfortunates buried beneath the wrecked ear. Another feature in the programme that deserves special mention is “Amid Raging Boasts.” This is one of the finest of animal subjects yet screened, each of the animals playing its part in a marvellous manlier. The elephant, enraged by the villain’s shot, pursues him and metes out summary vengeance in a startling manner. A wonderfully trained ape finds a lost child and in an almost human manner cares for it, climbs trees for bananas, coaeoanuts. etc*., which it gives to the child and in one scene wo arc shown the infant peacefully asleep in the animal’s arms. Lions, leopards, jaguars and numerous other animals play their, parts. Other films in this line collection are ‘With the Servian Army,” “John Bull’s Book,” “Dream of a Painting” and “When me Count Proposed.”
