TOKOMARU HARBOR BOARD.

Tho usual monthly meeting of the Tokoinn.ru Harßor Board was held on Tuesday last. Mr K. S. Williams presided and Messrs J. 11. M Neil, E. It. Murphy, C. AVilliams, C. 1. B. Beckett and W. Oates, sen., were also presenj;. CORRESPONDENCE. Emm the Department of Lands and Survey advising the Board that thd ■Government cannot at present allot any portion of the Hiktirangi State forest for harbor endowment. From Messrs Richardson and.. Co., Napier, stating that they would supply a crate for shipping sheen in lieu of the snotters at present in use. The Board have obtained 15 sheep hurdles for penning the Wanna wharf, 'l’lie Board are now in a position to ship sheep from Tokomaru with perfect ease and safety. HARBORMASTER’S REPORT. The harbormaster reported that during the half-year ending Juno 30th, 217 steamers and 4 sailing vessels, with a total nett tonnage of 211,926 tons, entered Tokomaru Bay. HAUNCH PASSENGER SEKVICE. During the half-year 2,622 passengers were carried without a single mishap. This is an excellent evidence of the care that is exercised by the popula r ‘ ‘sk i p per,’ ’ Cap tain Plummer. The following is a list of the imports and exports for the same period:— IMPORTS FOR SIX MONTHS-' ‘ENDING JUNE 30TH. 1915. Landed on Wanna wharf (general .roods) 3302 tons 17ft; landed on beach (timber) 340 tons 26 feet: woo for transhipment (12041 bales) / 1.1 tons 12 feet; wool for transhipment in stream (1274 bales) 509 tons 16 i foot- general goods transhipped ovet J wharf 19 tons 16 feet; total 4921 tons 151’eet. . General goods shipped over whaH 2970 tons 6 feet; general goods transhipped 31 tons 13 feet; wool shipped over wharf (4065 hales, '461 pockets, 6 bags, 1 fudge) 1738 tons 31 feet; wool transhipped (1427 hales) 082 tons .12 feet; wool transhipped in stream (1274 bales) 509 tons 24 feet; total 5832 tons 6 feet. LiveSUiek. — Six hundred and forty sheep, IJ-> rams, 1 horse. Engineers report and plans, rc proposed' reclamation and dredging, were considered. It was decided to hold reclamation in abeyance m the meantime and proceed with the dredging operations during the summer months. Re carrying soldiers and recruits on tender, it was agreed that recruits bo carried at half fares and soldiers in uniform free.. During the six months only on three occasions were tho passengers carried on owing to rough weather and on the last occasion the launch went out but the steamer passed on. It is a. genetallv recognised fact that Captain Pliimmor spares no effort i.o work the boats if it is at all possible. The secretary presented a statement of receipts and expenditure which shows the Board’s finances to bo in a very healthy condition. After the usual routine business had been transacted. including tho passing of accounts amounting to £216 4s Jd, the meeting adjourned.
