PUBLIC MEETING CALLED. A no tics convening a public moiling, to set np a committal with tho objectl of promoting a campaign to augment tho funds of the- City Baud, appears in pur advertising -columns. The meeting is to be, bcld jit Findlay’s Rooms on, Friday night next, August 6tJi. His Worship tlh-o Mayor wifi preside. As the public are woll aware, the Band unselfishly decided to forego their claim to £IOOO from the Carnival, and it is only a small matter for the residents to appreciate their action- and assist in this moveslnent. The chair is to be taken at 8 p.m. sharp, and the business will in (dude the setting up of a strong committee to arrange for the campaign, election of officials and general business. The convenors—Messrs. John, TownIcy, James: Brown, and W. F. Cod-ep-wa-M—are warrant enough r to ensure success of tlie movement.
