SERIOUS CHARGE MADE BY BOROUGH INSPECTOR.

A serious charge concerning: an a - lewd attempt to evade the Borough building bv-'laws was laid belorc the Borough Council last night. Air W. H. I asked the mastel plumbers who it. was that had out ut holes in the nines, hut neither oi them acknowledged doing so. i got Air B. Unit, master plumber, to make an inspection of the waste pipes referred to so that, in the event of anything further coming of tins matter I could if necessary call on him. Under two hv-law the'master plumber, is in this case responsible for the breach committed. and 1 have to ask that an endorsement bo placed on his license. If this is given client to it will be necessary to notify the Plumbers Board, Wellington. of the endorsement. The Mayor: I move that the inspector’.s report he adopted. Or. Wildish said that while he was quite prepared to back up the engineer he though the firm should be given an opportunity of explaining the matter. . . Or. Bright moved,, and Or. \\ ddisb seconded, that flic firm be written to, asking them to show cause why their - license should not bo endorsed. I Or. Collins asked if it would not be wiser for the Council to wait until there was a conviction in the Magistrate’s Court before doing anything. He moved as an amendment that it: the'Act permitted it the inspector be instructed to take proceedings. I Cr. Hill seconded the amendment. GY. Bright then withdrew his motion and Cr. ■Collins’ proposition was carried.
