At the Trentham inquiry on Saturday Colonel Hotter, Camp Commandant, said that Jiis quartermaster told him that tluyshould try and get tho second issue* of boots into camp in. view of the wet weather. It had been the euslom previously to issue the second pair when they were ready. Genera! Robin promised to expedite the supply of hoots. Respecting drying apparatus, Colonel Hotter said it had not occurred to him before to provide it. as he had not seen anything of ihe kind in Lis previous experience. His quartermaster made the suggestion to him. None of the medical officers had done so so far as ho knew. Marquees were provided months ago as shelter for men on hick' parade.
Afr Skerrett-: Do you think it a prudent measure to provide only one pair of boots for recruits coming t-o camp in winter? —It would be an advantage to have the second pair within a week.
To Air Skerrett: Witness said he obtained no special written report as to the general health of tho camp. Col Purdy was at the camp two or three times a week and witness ahvivs asked him how things were and the rrp.y was “splendid.” Ho recollected a conversation witn Colonel Purdy in which tho latter expressed the opinion that measles were being brought mio tho camp.
