SATURDAY’S MATCHES. WEST END BEATS HIGH SCHOOL. A SPLENDID EXHIBITION OF RUGBY. Only small attendances are following the Rugby matches <m tho Domain this season, but those who roll up regularly are being treated to some exceptionally good exhibitions of the Rugby game. As a matter of fact, tho matches which are billed as junior games have, especially when the High School team is one ot the competing teams, been far above the average senior games of last year. The match between High -School and nest End on Saturday last provided a"game as spectacular and exciting as could be desired by even the most fastidious of critics. Frbnt the kick-off the game was characterised by stirring forward rushes and nippy and spectacular back-play, which induced several “oldtimers” on the side-line to become vividly reminiscent. West End won by 8 points—a converted try and a try-—to nil. Both tho tries were the outcome of passing bouts which originated outside tire 25 line, Martin getting over ip both instances. The tackling by both teams was good and kept tho scoring low. Tire future meetings of tho two teams should be 'keenly followed. third grade: Two third grade matches were played. The West End district enti n-d a„ second team in the competition, which was pitted, against' High School. The combination of the school team proved too much, for the West End boys, arid they had 2(5 points registered against thorn. For High School, Oman scored two tries, and L. Faram, Woodward, 0. For West End, Tate, (Yokrr, Raymond, - and Cornelius scored tries, and Williamspotted a goal. SCHOOL. FOOTBALL. GISBORNE A WIN THE FINAL. The final in the Schools’ Competition was played on Saturday morning between Gisborne School A and Gisborne School B.
