ARRESTED AS A SPY.
PRINCESS MARY’S DISCONCERTING EXPERIENCE. AMERICAN NEWSPAPER STORY. (Received Aug. 10. 9.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 10. The ‘Tribune” prints a story t-liat a. member of the British. Royal Family had a disconcerting experiences in being arrested and charged as a GermaiYspy. Princess Mary was held up under a guard of officers, who were sympathetic, but sceptical. When the matter was investigated, it was found that the Princess had gene incognito to visit the Front-, accompanied by Mile. Bassau. She was to meet t!ho Prince of Wales six miles from a village. Here her car was halted by a French patrol. The occupants had forgotten thoir passports and permits, and the patrol failed to recognise the name of “Lady Chester,’’ under which the Princess was travelling. -The car was left under guard, with an assurance that the occupants \voukl be shot at 6 o’clock next morning. Four hours later, an officer returned _ and identified the Princess, whose bona fides wore established and messages sent to headquarters, which, was on the point of issuing a general alarm for the missing Princess.
