SATISFACTORY, SALE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
PRICES TWOPENCE A POUND BETTER THAN DECEMBER.
CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 6. Iho second Christchurch ayool sale of the season, opened to-night when 8000 bales were offered and all but 14 sold. There was a particularly keen sale, A'alues being one penny per lb better than at sales immediately preceding, and twopence per lb better than the Christchurch December sale. All the buying points Avere represented in competition, Bradford being particularly active.
The top prices according to description Avei'e:
Merino—2l}d (in December 194 d). Corriedale—2oifd (21} d). Half-bred—2l }d (20}d). Threequarter-bred—l6} (16}d.) Crossbred—l6}d (l3}d.) Corriedale Pieces—l6|d (15}:). Half-bred pieces—17}d {l7d). The point about the night’s auction, however, is that a heavy proportion of the half-bred and Corriedale offering ranged from 17}d to 19d, compared with 16d to 17d at last sale, Avith crossbred from ll}d to 13d as against lOd to lid. MARKET VERY STRONG

SYDNEY, Jan. 6. The Aveek’s wool sales closed Avith the market very strong, being supported by Japanese, German and Bradford operators, and prices were very firm at late rates. Full clearances Avere made. Greasy Merino touched 30d.
