(Received Jan. 6, 10.5 pm.) NEW YORK, Jan. Plans for the second Polar expedition under Captain Wilkins aie announced by Mr Hugh Grant, formei British naval officer, who is cqoperating in the re-orgafTised Detroit Arctic expedition. Captain W ilkins and party will leave Seattle oil Feb. 12 for Fairbanks in Alaska. Three aeroplanes will be used to search for land in the Arctic ice packs. The base will be established at Point Bari on and meteorological records will be kept. Captain Wilkins believes that the Arctic weather has a direct bearing on the unsolved meteorological problems of temperate and tropical zones.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
