RABBIT BOARD

RATES REDUCED

The monthly meeting of the East Coast Rnuuic Hoard was held on Saturday; present, Messrs M. T. Trailcrci (m tne chair), M. L. Hidden and C. G. Holdswortn.

Ihe question of the rate for 1927 was discussed. It was decided that the rate .should be as follows: J-d on sheep and gel on cattle, a further rate cl gd cm sheep and §d on cattle, to be imposed ;n the affected area. This rate, which shows a reduction on the previous year, will he confirmed at a special meeting to be held on February 1927.

Accounts amounting to £651 2s Id were passed for payment. Chief Inspector A. McGill reported inspecting a fair portion of the U'hakata no-Galatea country and found it to be in first class order. Only odd traces were found on Ruatoki, Te Telco, Waiohau, Kopuriki, Te Houtu, Galatea, Te Whaiti and Whirinakci Iso. 4 blocks. A rabbit was reported at Wnirnana, but Mr Burgess could not find ,any traces of it. Rabbits were found right through the country between Galatea and the Kangifaiki, especially on the top end of Run 95 along the river on the Pukatamii No. 2 Run 60 and the top end of Rununga. Heliier’s Valley was found very clean with only odd traces of rabbits. After crossing the Waipunga bridge on the wav to Tara worn, odd traces were found right through to the upper Mohaka bridge. Tin’s block will he poisoned again the first week in' March. Inspector Dawson reports having gone over a portion of the Wairoa county and finding things in good order. The number of rabbits killed during the month were as follow: Mohaka vS, Waikaremonna. L Te Teko 3, Waiohau 3, Te Houki 2, Galatea 2.
