SAILING BOAT CAPSIZED.

MAN SLIP POSED DROWNED

AUCKLAND, Jan. P

Two cousins, Thornton .Tidd aucl Harold Tidd left Devonport in sailing boat about 6 o’clock on Saturday evening. About 8 o clock the boat was capsized off Motuihi Island. Thornton Tidd reached the island in safety, but nothing more has boon seen of Harold Tidd. A search for the missing man was made to-aay hj friends in a launch, ebut as no trace of the boat was found, the party returned to Auckland this afternoon. Probably the boat lias been carried out to sea or washed up somewhere along the coast.—P.A.

ROADMAN’S DEATH AT TINIROTO.

Further advice received by Inspector Eecles regarding the man who was reported to have dropped dead at Tiniroto on Friday, states that ho was a roadman named Thomas Ivane, aged 53. in the employ of the Cook County. Some years ago lie worked on the roads in the Tiniroto district and recently returned and took up a contract stone knapping. ITe has only been in the district a few months, and it is understood he recently received medical attention. The body has been taken to Wairoa. She urn to cross the road from behind a standing car, but ran in front of a motor lorry, which knocked her down.
