GISBORNE SITTINGS
ALLEGED MURDER
Charged with the murder of Jeremiah Williamson at Torere on Dec. 7, John Sullivan appeared before Mr E. C. Lewey, S.M., on Saturday. On the application of Detective McLeod accused was remanded until January 13, the Detective stating, in answer to the Bench, that an application would be made then for a further remand to Opotiki for hearing.
STOLE TYKES FROM CAR
MAORIS CONVICTED AND FINED
The tale of how two front tyres came to be removed from a car left overnight on the Waerenga-a-lum Road was unfolded before Mr E. G. Lewey, S.M.. oil Saturday, when Rewa Hohipa and Jimmie Whakarau, two Maoris, were charged with theft. Both accused pleaded guilty. D'etective McLeod said that the complainant, William Harris, had an accident witn bis car at Waerenga-a kuri and had to leave it and send a mechanic out from town to tako it in. The mehanic had not been able to get the car that night and next day the two front tyres were missing. Accused admitted the theft and gave as a reason that they thought the car was abandoned. . . Accused were convicted anti lineu C.- and costs, in default two months imprisonment. ________
