OPERA HOUSE.
‘ IRON 1 HORSE.”—TO-NIGHT.
In the presentation of “The Iren Horse,” at the Opera House to-night, William Fox gives to the screen a masterful production of a virile subject mammoth in it’s compelling interest and handled m such a manner that it soars to the highest pmnaele of cinema art. From the instant it appears on the screen one sees the great Abe Lincoln, loved by the entire world in memory, giving encouragement to the ambition ol David Brandon, sent, the surveyor who had the heroism to pioneer a pathway through the wilderness to Amreica’s frontiers, giving his life m ihe attempt. That great thought later became action when Lincoln signed an important document, :he authority for the Union Pacific to wend its way westwood, and the 1 mitral Pacific ■ Railroad to lorge to the cast, where they finally welded together completing* the greatest commercial highway known to humanity. Words fail when one attempts to do justice to these red-blooded pages of history, watching these warriors of peacetime. engaged in this pretentious battle to lay a pathway of steel across America, menaced by hostile f innans, constantly engaged m death battles, living on the product oi this barren wilderness for bodily i ouri.sliment. The natural attactiveness of this picture is so inspiring one 'nrdly realises the love romance speeding its way, with George 0 Brian as Dave Brandon, Lite hero. w From the moments of his love making to the big physical encounters with the dishonesty of those attempting to frustrate and divert the route of the great iron horse, one sees that ih.s likeable lad with his infectious Celtic smile can go into action quite as easily as he smiles. The character of Corporal Casey, played by J. Jarrell MacDonald, provides about the cost alibi to break forth in hilarious mirth one might meet with for many a day.
