WELLINGTON.- Jan. 12

luquiries from local practitioners show the presence of a minor epidemic of influenza in 'Wellington and suburbs, particularly in the Mutt' Valley. Children are chiefly affected but the disease is not confined to ihem. It is of a mild type, and no deaths have occurred.

Inquiries regarding the general influenza position show that serious types of the disease have a low incidence. For the four weeks ended January 10, only six cases were reported for the whole .Dominion, and three deaths, which is the ordinary jnter-epidemic level. —P.A.
