Wellington.-—Prime Woolly lambs 36!b and under 85 d; 37/421bs 74d; 43lbs and over 7d; second quality lambs 7ld; prime wethers 56]bs and under s.\d; 57 to 64lbs 4fd: 65 to 721 h-s 4',d; owes oGlhs and under 3id ; 57 to 61 lbs 3d. ADDINGTON YARDS
GOOD SALE FOR FAT LAMBS
AND FAT SHEEP
CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. At the Addington yards there were small entries in all the sheep classes, the (attic numbers being about the same. There was a good sale for fat lambs and fat sheep. Fat cattle were a shade easier.
Store Sheep.—There was a fairsized entry. Lambs sold very spiritedly, making irom 19s 7d to 21s 6d and a few special up to 22s 7d. Ewes sold at late rates. Sound-mouthed ewes and lambs made 21s 3d, inferior ewes and lambs 14s 9d, small twotoothed half-bred ewes 30s Gd to 335, 2-th half-bred ewes 31 s to 325, 4. O and 8-tli haif-hred ewes 25s 4d to 25s 9d, mixed-sex rape lambs 19s 2d to 21s lid, mixed sex Down lambs 19s Gd, crossbred ewe lambs 22,s 7d, 4 and 0-th halfbred wethers 23s 6d. rat Lambs.—There was a small yarding of 25-50 head, and a hardening sale, prime under 361bs making Cu and all over Bd. Extra prime made to 31s Id, prime 26s 6d to 295, medium 24s 3d to 26s 3d, unfinished lambs 22s 3d to 245.
Fat Sheep.—There was an entry oi ten races, which included some very prime lines of wethers, one truck from Invercargill making from 32s 4d to 33s la. 'rile sale was firm at last week's rates. Extra prime wethers made from 31s Od to 36s lOd, prime wethers 27s 6d to 31s, medium wethers 25s to 275, light wethers 22s Gd to 24s Od, extra prime ewes to 26s od, prime owes 22s Gd to 255, medium owes 12s Gd to 225, light ewes 17s 04 to 19s 3d, aged ewes 16s 3d to 17s 3d Eat Cattle.—Some 4 75 were yarded A heavy proportion were cows. Good beef was unaltered, but rougher was down by 15s per head. Prime medium -weight beef made from 35s 6d to 3.7 s Gd. best heifer 34s Od to 80s bet, heavy weight 33s to 355, medium quality 32s 6d to 84s, ordinary 28s Gd to 31s, rough down to 255. Extra prune, steers made £l4 to £l6 2s 6d. prone heavy steers to £lB 2s Gd, prime minium weight steers £l2 to £l3 Jss, light steers £2 to £ll 10s, extra prime heifers to £l3 2s 6d, prime heifers £S 15s to .£ll, ordinary liei.c-vs £6 10s to" £8 10s, light heifers £5 5s to £6 ss, extra prime cows to £l2, prime cows £7 15s to £lO ss, medium tows £6 to £7 ICs, light cows £1 5s to £5 15s.
Vealers. —There was a large entry i.f vealers, hut hardy sufficient to meet the demand. Runners made to £7 15s, good calves £5 to £6, medium calves £3 15s to £4 15s, small and inferior calves 15s to 355. Store Cattle.—There was a fairly large entry, and a satisfactory demand.- Good 3-yr-old steers made £8 ss, steers various ages £7 12s Gd io £B, good cows to £5, medium cows £3 to £4, inferior cows 30s to £2 10s, bulls £4 to £B.
Dairy Cattle. —Dairy cattle showed a slight improvement. The entry totalled 32 head. Good, second, third and fourth ealvers made £8 10s to £ll ss. extra good to £ls 15s, medium sorts £6 I.os to £B, inferior sorts £3 10s to £6, springing heifers £5 5s to £9, old cows £1 10s to £3.
Fat- Pigs.—There was an exceptionally ' heavy entry and all-round lower values, particularly lor baconors. Choppers made £3 to £4 ss, light baeoners £3 7s to' £3 15s, heavy baeoners £4 to £4- Bs, extra heavy to £4 15s Od, average prices per lb 6d to Gjd, light porkers 47s ta 525, heavy porkers 55s to G4s, average price per lb 71 d to Bd. Store Pigs.—The entry was one of the largest for a long time. The sale was a very dragging one. All small wcaners made 13s to IDs, better sorts 20s to 235, small stores 24s to 30s, medium stores 31s to 365, large stores to 455.-—P.A.
WESTFIELD V A RDS
AUCKLAND, Jan. 12.
At Westfield there was a somewhat smaller yarding than usual, prices in consequence being very firm. Cow and heifer beef was also subject to very keen eompe-vtbn. Extra choice ox made 30s per lUOlL; choice and prime 27s to 295; just kill 1 able 23s to 265; prime young cow and heifer 24s to 275; just kill-, able 22s to 235.
Sheep.—There was a fair j aiding, there being little or no change in values, but there was an easing tendency towards the end of the sale. Heavy prime wethers made 23s Gd to 24s 6d; medium 21s 6d to 235; light and unfinished 19s to 20s ; heavy prime ewes 16s 6d; lighter 14s to 15s; other ewes 9s 6d to 13s 6d.
Lambs.—*An average yarding sold at last week’s prices, there being a better demand for store lambs. Heavy prime lambs made 24s Gd; medium lambs 21s to 23s 6d; light 18s Gd to £l.
Calves.—There was a good yarding, with little or no change in values. Runners made £4 16s 6d to £5 2s; heavy vealers £3 10s to £4 3s; medium £3 to £3 7s ; light £1 15s to £2 10s; fresh dropped 3s to 16s. Pigs.—There was a good yarding. Competition was not keen and values were not up to last week’s rates. Choppers made £2 10s to £4 6s; heavy baeoners £3 10s to !£3 14s; medium Baeoners £3 5s to £3 9s; light baeoners. £3 to £3 3s; heavy porkers £3 ; medium porkers £2 12s to £2 17s; light porkers £2 2s to £2 12s.—P.A.,
