FATAL HEAT WAVE
DEATHS IN AUSTRALIA MANY PEOPLE COLLAPSE. AMBULANCES KEPT BUSY. (United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received Jan. 12, S.2J' p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 1.2. A heat wave is being experienced in the southern .portion of Australia and many elderly people are unable to stand the strain. Seven deaths occurred at Adelaide, and a man and a woman died at Melbourne. Hundreds of people slept on the Victorian beaches last night to escape the stifling indoor air. Patients in tne hospitals were the worst sufferers. .... The ambulances were kept busy owing to people collapsing from heat.— U.P.A. FIVE MORE DEATHS IN ADELAIDE. (Received Jan. 13, 1.40 a.in.)
