MOTUHORA FATALITY
INQUEST ON MILL-WORKER
An inquest was >ld at Motu yesterday into the circumstances of the death of Walter Beets, an employee at Mr G. McDonald's Motuhora sawmill, whose death occurred the previous day.
Mr G.' A. Donovan, J.P.; actingCoroner, nresided and the following jury was empanelled: Messrs R. J. ■( ox (foreman). G. Meldrum, J. Lloau and R. Ohamley. . After medical and other evidence outlining the circumstances of the accident had been given, as published in Yesterday's Times, the following verdict was returned: “That Walter Ends met bis death through the machine breaking and striking deceased, causing instantaneous death, and that no blame was attachable to anyone.
MAN LOSES FOOT BY MACHINE WELLINGTON. Jan. 13. A man named Harry Patterson had his foot taken off by a pug machine at the Gasco Brick Company s works at Miramar this morning. He was admitted to hospital just after midday. His condition is reported to 1)3 very serious.- P A. MISSING WOMAN’S BODY RECOVERED AUCKLAND. Jan. 13. The Lodv of Mrs Myrtle Blackburn, of St. Heifers’ Bay, who disappeared from the banks of the YVaipa river, Ngaruwahia, on Monday afternoon, was recovered by the police this morning after exploding gelignite in the river.—P.A.
