GISBORNE CLUB. GORDON DOUBLES. The Arst race in-the Gordon doublesculling series was held on the l’aruheru River last evening, when, R. Hanna 'arid C. F.. Horne defeated H. O. Fraser and J. Morrison. The winners' were on the scratch mprk, and conceded lOsecs. to their opponents, whom they caught in the first half of the distance. 'From that stage on, however, they were unable to gain much advantage, for 'their early exertions had told on them. They eventually won by a length. The losing pair rowed well against a more experienced combination. The series will be continued this evening and to-morrow, and it is hoped to complete on Monday, when training will commence for the next event in the fours. A nomination list for the last-mentioned series has been posted, and it is anticipated the entries will bo heavy.

LAMB’S TU UR. UNPLACED AT” HASTINGS. HASTINGS, Jan. 13. “Fatty” Lamb, the Australian champion cyclist, appeared at the Hastings Amateur .Athletic Club’s meeting yesterday, but failed to show his true form, which is attributed to a severe fall sustained at Wellington. Lamb competed in the one mile and half-mile events, but was unplaced in both.

COST OF ROSE-McHOLM TOUR. N.Z.A.A.A. OVER £IOOO IN HAND. WELLINGTON, Jan. 13. The Rose-McHolm tour last year was economical, the "expenses totalling £9lB 16s 3d. to' which has to be added expenses incidental to the tour and the raising of the money, £177 15s 6d. After paying all expenses there is in hand the sum of £1027 l'ls Id, which the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has decided to hold aside for future overseas tours.—P.A.
