MOTORIST KILLED BY OVERTURNED CAR

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 14. Thomas Welsh, 40, married, residing in Sutherlands road, Halswell, while driving a car along Lincoln road plunged into a ditch and was killeu. He swerved on a corner and in evading a power line pole the wheels went over the bank, causing the car to topple over. When found, Welsh was dead in his seat, still •clutching the steering wheel.

LAD FALLS OVER WHARF ON TO BOAT

A boy named Roper met with a •somewhat serious accident at the port this morning. While standing on the wharf edge holding a bicycle he over-balanced and fell about 12ft, striking the gunwale of a boat. He fractured some ribs, which penetrated the lungs. The boy was removed to hospital. KICKED ON FACE BY HORSE DUNEDIN, Jan. 14. Arthur Waddington Milne, 39, married, a sheepfarmer at Heriot, was kicked on the face by a horse on Christmas Day, sustaining a broken nose and a fractured jaw. He was admitted to a private hospital in Dunedin on January 7, and died yesterday from bronchial pneumonia, due to paralysis of the lamyx and tetanus.
