CONTENTIOUS PACT
ITALO-ALBANIAN AGREEMENT. Jugoslavia' will test matter BEFO LIE LEAGUE. (Received Jan. 14, 8.45 p.m.) LONDUN, Jan. ti. “The Italo-Albanian pact recently concluded dominates the situation in the Near East to an extent not realized in Western Europe,’’ says Mr George Renwick in a lengthy cable to the Daily Chronicle from Vienna, lie foreshadows serious conflict in this connection between Italy and Jugoslavia, and says the first trial ol strength will occur at Geneva, when Italy seeks the League’s approval ol the pact, to which Jugo-Slavia will offer the strongest possible objection on the ground that it is merely a cover for eventual occupation. Mr Renwick prophesies that the demands of the two countries will assume the form of ultimata, backed up by threats of withdrawal from the League.—A.N .Z.C.A.
