January 20th, 22nd, 24th—Wellington It. O. January 21st, 22nd—Foxton R.C. January 22nd—Bay of Islands it.o. January 26th, 27th—Paliiatua R.C. January 29th, 31st—Takapuna R.U. POVERTY BAY TROTTING CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Poverty Bay Trotting Club was held last Thursday. Mr. F. Tolerton presided over an interested gathering of members. The president, in his remarks upon the balance-sheet., commented on the fact that the Club had been unable to hold its animal meeting last season, owing to the number of nominations being insufficient to guarantee a good day’s sport. This season’s totalisator meeting promised to retrieve the position of the Club, he remarked, for the nominations were highly satisfactory, and there seemed every likelihood of a good representation of outside horses, as well as good acceptances from local owners Last year’s permit had been loaned to the Hawke's Bay Club, and the Poverty Bay Club had benefited to the extent of £-62 10s, a donation of half the profits of the meeting held in H.B. The Club had a bank balance, of £2BB, and though some subscriptions were outstanding, these would probably come in within the next few weeks.

Mr. Tolerton urged all present to use their best endeavors to increase the membership of the Club, and mentioned that several new members llad been elected during the past week or two. The Club owed its thanks to Messrs. F. Goodman and R. C. Fisken, for donations of gold cups for the principal events at last meeting, and the forthcoming meeting respectively. The services of Mr. Fisken to the Club were so wellknown that the speaker referred to them only to place on record the Club’s gratitude. Many other members hacl assisted in the conduct of the Club’s affairs in a most praiseworthy manner, and specially Mr. Greaves, who had capably filled the post of starter. The election of officers resulted in the return of the patrons, Messrs. I). J. Barry, F. Goodman, \V. D. Lysnar, M.P., J. R. Murphy, C. Neenan, J. W. Nolan, G. W. Primrose, A. B. Williams, H. B.
