OBITUARY
■SIRS. E. L, HENZLER. Widespread regret will be expressed in the announcement of the death of Mis Ellen Lena Henzler, who passed away at her Norman Road icsidence on Sunday, at the age cf 73 years. Airs. Henzler came t.o Uisborne_wii.li her husband 43 years ago.' Mr. Henzler died about a year later, and the widow was left with a family of seven young children to provide for. For a lengthy pdnod she was in business in Gladstone Road, but some years ago, on account of failing health, she ‘disposed of lier business, ana took up residence in Norman Road. Airs. Henzler was one of,; the most highly esteemed members! of the Gisborne corps of the Salvation Army, being one of the first to link up with that organisation after it commenced activities in Gisborne. Though for some years she has been unable to maintain lier former activity with the army, by her loving and Christian-like disposition slie had endeared herself to her fellow members. Gloom spread over the meeting on Sunday evening. Airs. Henzler leaves a family of two daughters, Mesdames F. Gray and Glover, and four sons, Alessrs. Andrew, George, Albert and John Henzler. Another son, Robert, was killed during the late war. The sympathy of many friends will go out, to the relatives in their bereavement.. The funeral will leave Airs. Henzler s late residence at 2.30 p.m. to-day. Mil. LOFT US AUSTIN. The death of Mr. Loft us Austin occurred at ms residence, Jubilee Roan, Auckland, on January 9. Air Austin was in his 73rd year, having been born in Tenterden, Romney Marsh, England, on October 15, 1854. He came to New Zealand with his wife in the ship Durham 54 years ago, and on arrival obtained a position as manager of a farm for the late Air. Robert Hall, of Alangere. Ho was fie first person to drive a mob of sheep over the -old Alangere bridge. Later he obtained a position with the firm of Hunter and Nolan, which was* later bought out by the New Zealand Loan and Alercantile Agency Company, Limited. After some years lie commenced a coal and firewood business at Ellerslie with liis sons, under the style of L. Austin and Sons. In after years he devoted his time to the building oi saleyarcTs, and ho built salevards all over the Auckland province, including Westfield yards, which are said to be the finest in the Dominion. Air. Austin was well-known in the Elierslio district, and.was highly respected. While a young man in England he joined the Ancjent Order of Foresters and on reaching New Zealand became one of the first members of the Onehunga branch of the order. Tlie funeral was held at Hillsborough cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, members of "the order acting as pallbearers. The Rqv. 11. J. Stanton, of Ellerslie. officiated. Atr. Austin is survived by !his wife, four sons, Air. L. E. Austin. Air. C. (V.'Austin, Air. A. H. Austin, and Air. A. J. L. Austin, all of Auckland, and three daughters, Airs. S. Lodger, of Gisborne, Airs. C. I. Smith and Aliss C. A. Austin, of Auckland.
