NOMINATION FOR TEAM FOR ENGLAND. PERSONNEL OF SELECTION COMMITTEE. AN AUCKLAND PROTEST. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 18. Nominations from the cricket associations and sub-associations were received at last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council. No nominations have been received from Canterbury, but this fact will not prejudice the chances of any Canterbury players as the selectors have the right to go outside the players nomminated. The following are the nominations received: — Manawatu: N. Galliclian. Auckland: H. D. Gillespie, R. IV. Rowntree, O. Allcott, J. E. Mills, I. W. Cooper and G. C. Dacre. Wellington: W. S. Brice, F. T. Badcock, C. S .Dempster, M. Henderson, A. M. Hollings, J- S. Hiddlcston, K. O. James, B. J. Kortlang, T. C. Lowry, S. Lambert, H. M. McGirr, and R. deR. Worker. Otago: R. C. Blunt, A. W. Alloo, G. R. Dickinson and A. Galland. Ashburton: J. B. Nicoll. Wanganui: C. S. Dempster, Wells, and G. Orr.

The Auckland Association wrote protesting against the noil-inclusion of an Aucklander on the committee to select the New Zealand team for the English tour. The letter stated: “Your committee’s decision has caused much disappointment in the north and as Auckland’s claims for representation are so strong the decision is difficult to understand. It is felt that on account of the proximity of Canterbury and Otago the representative from Otago could have given way to another from the North Island. The number of cricketers in the North Island is much greater than in the South, and it is submitted that the present playing strength of the North Island is greater than that of the south.” The letter vas received.—P.A.
