GISBORNE CLUB TOURNAMENTLITTLE PROGRESS MADE. Very little progress has been made in the course of the last five or six weeks with the Gisborne Club handicap tournament. The lew games played have, however, provided interesting plav. M. J. White showed his best form'to date fin disposing easily of C. L. Margolioutli in the mens singles. He played his semi-final tie with N. H. Bull shortly afterwards and had to admit defeat by only five points. Had been tired, it is very probable that lie would have won this game also. Miss Graham and B. White played splendidly in defeating Mrs. Burnard and N. Bull, in a semi-final match, by the wide margin of twenty-six points. Following are the results of recent matches:—

MEN’S SINGLES, Third Round: M. J. Whitfc (rec--10) defeated C. L. Margolioutli (owe 15), 75-50. ■ , Semi-finals: N. H. Bull {owe defeated M. J. White,-85-80; R. Williamson (scr.) defeated L. T. Burnard (rec. 10) 60-51. LADIES’ SINGLES. Fifth Round: Miss M. Hegarty (scr.) defeated Miss Steele (rec. 15). 50-38. - ’ COMBINED DOUBLES. Semi-final: Miss Graham andl B. K White (rec. 15} defeated Mrs. Burnard and N. H, Bull (owe 20), -80-54. . i , This pair meet Miss Hegarty and W. Blathwayt (rec, 5) in the final; of this event.

; DANNEVHIKE, Jan. 19. , The following finals were decided iri the Bannevirke tennis tournament: Men’s singles, Sandrall (Palmerston N.)j ladies’ championship singles, Miss Horne (Wellington); men’s championship doubles, Sandrall (Palmerston N.) and Griffiths (Auckland); ladies’ championship doubles, Mrs. Hetley and Miss Snow Clark (Napier) ; ladies’ handicap singles, Miss Mcfarlane (Auckland) owe 10.—P.A.
