QUEENSLAND FLOODS
ELEVEN INCHES OF RAIN IN FOUR HOURS RAILWAY SERVICE DISORGANISED (Received Jan. 20. 9.-50 p.m.) BRISBANE, Jan. 20. Floods followed torrential rains in the coastal districts of Northern Queensland. At one place eleven inches fell in four hours. Trains were unable to complete their journeys, owing to the lines being awash. The Brisbane-Towusville line at Howard was three feet tinder water and the Herbert river is nine feet above the Hanks and still rising.—U.P.A.
