GIRL’S SUICIDE
BECAUSE SHE DID NOT SING WELL. DASHED FROM ROOM AND TOOK POISON. LONDON, Nov. 4. A young woman who was so disappointed with her own singing at a party that she ran from the room and swallowed carbolic acid, was the subject of an inquest at Wembley yesterday. Suicide while of unsound mind was the verdict. She was Gwendoline Frances Cour-t-in, age 22, of Beechcreft Gardens. \\ embley. Her mother said her daughter was of a highly strung temperament, and was very quick tempered. She was very easily hurt. On Sunday evening they were all at a party at which her daughter was asked to sing. She was very disappointed with her song, thinking she had not done her best, and ran out of the room. Mrs. Courtin. thinking she was sulking, went to her room and called her. There was no reply, and she entered. Her daughter was unconscious, and there was a smell of carbolic. A'sister of the girl tried to give her salt and water, but she could not swallow. . . Police and a doctor were called, but all their efforts to save the girl s life were fruitless.
