FOR TE KARAKA NEEDS
•8 PITA L BOARD TO BE A RUNNING COSTS.
The efforts of the Te Karaka residents to raise funds to provide a motor car for the district nurse :Rationed there, were mentioned ip a letter received by the Cook Hospital Board yesterday, in which the committee thanked the Board for tke’.r generous offer towards the purchase c-f the car, and advising that the residents' quota could be guaranteed. The chairman (Mr W. G. Sherratr): The guarantee is no good; we want the cash.
Mr. C. H. Bridge explained that •tile money Tor the deposit would b? ' wthcoming in two or three days so that the Board could now decide what type of car should he purchased.
The- chairman pointed out that the Board could not undertake to provide their portion until the end of the financial year, hut meantime ir t-ne To Karaka committee had £7-'t .in hand this could he paid now and the Board’s contribution added nr. fcU» end of March. .Mr. M. T. Trafford inquired v: fcher running costs and upkeep had i ,-en considered, and who would hear these costs.
The chairman replied that i Board would have to undertake t expenditure, which would have to ?: ■ netioned by the Department. The matter was subsequent;v f c.'-sod in committee.
