FESTIVE SEASON

FOR HOSPITAL PATIENTS

Patients in the Cook Hospital during December were treated to a series of entertainments. On Btec. 16 a party organised by Mr. C. V. Harre the J. C. Williamson Coy., and the Salvation Army Band gave concerts.

Donations towards the children’s Christmas Tree amounted to £6 19 l while voluntary subscriptions to the Christmas fund for the entertainment of patients totalled to £l3 7 6. Other donations not yet acknowledged were received as follows: Sweets, Mrs. S. H. Phillips; scrap books, Janies, Hubert and Helen Oarroll; Christmas cake, Mrs. Kenwa’y; Christmas cake, Mrs Colin Campbell: (Ward 2.) also quantity of other cakes, Christmas cake, Women’s Club, l'lowers, Mrs. G. Evans; Chocolates, Mr. W. T. Tan and O’Meara’s; one ham, Mrs Howlands; (Nursing Staff.-) Toys, E. H. C/o Herald Office; Sweets and biscuits, Mrs, It. N. Jones; ham Mrs. E. A. Evans; Pram (children’s ward), Mr. T. Adams.

Christmas gifts for the Memorial home were received as follows : Mrs. Frank Barker, roast beef and sausages; Masonic Hotel, lamb and Christmas pudding; Fisken and Ludwig, half a lamb; Mr. I>. J. Barry, 4 doz. soft drinks; N.Z. Breweries, 2 dozen Gold Top Ale; St. Vincent de Paul Societv, Christmas cake; Mr: and Mrs. Hobson, 3 packets muscatels and almonds, and box' of chocolates for women. Also 6 sticks of tobacco for the men ; Mr. Jex Blake, 21 bs. tobacco; Mesdamcs Pavitt and Crawford, cut flowers; L. Afinnis. chocolates: Anonymous, cooked ham: Mr. C. Adp ir. quantity of literature; Mrs. C. P. Brown, Kev. das. Aitken. Mr. C and Miss Morris. Members Tveslevan Choir. These donors handed their gi'ts round to the inmat'-s. which resisted of fruit, calces, Jollies," handkerchiefs, tobacco", etc. The inmates were vorv grateful to tlm donors for their many: gifts and good wishes. . "
