Black invited a number of young people to her home in Graham Road, to a most enjoyable all-day tennis party, 'ln honor of her grandson, Robert. Luncheon was served in the diningroom, the table being charmingly decorated with pink and cream rcses. Afternoon tea in the garden under the shady trees, added greatly to a very delightful day. . Black was wearing a crcpo-de-cliine gown in a soft shade of violet.

Aliss F. Black was in a tailored nil irock, ancl a hois do rose straw • t. Aliss H. Black wore a smart striped fuji frock, and a blue hat to tone. Other guests present were: Mesdames Heath, Holderness, Gillingham, Thomas, Kemp, and Selby.

SETTEE RUGS. A delightful and cosy finish is imparted to a deep and comfortable settee or Chesterfield couch by a soft decorative rug, which is spread over the hack of the settee in the .vdinary way, but is the most comfortable tiling possible to snuggle under for a rest before the fire. One suggestion is a plain brown camel-hair rug lined with beautilul brown and orange cretonne, liie i retonne being turned over as a deep hem on the uncovered side of the rug. The effect is very handsome, and the cretonne will probably he some of that used for the hangings of the room. Then a lovely cardinal-red velvet is suggested, edged with inr and lined with a warm, thick satin. The owner’s monogram is applique with the satin on a corner ot the rug. The fur edging may suggest a splendid use for the bits of an old fur coat cut into strips and joined to form the necessary lengths of trimmings. The remaining suggestion is something after the style of the striped Roman shawl or rug, which is so effective. The strips in this case are remnants of cliiierently coloured cloths or velvets sewn together. The rug is outlined with gold cords or handsome furniture braid, and finished at the corners with heavy gold tassels. A DANCE AND PARTY.

On Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Angus Cameron entertained about 80 guests at their home, Bushmere, a dance being given in honor of the coming of age ol their daughter Miss Ida Cameron. The dininfs-room Avas cleared [or dancing, and was gaily decorated with pink and blue streamers and balloons The guests also danced on the front lawn "which was lit up for the occasion with lamps and Chinese lanterns. The music was supplied by piano gramophone, and accordion, while Mr D. P. CVimeron gave a delightful selection or two on the bagpipes. Mrs Cameron received her gi osts in a grey and striped taffeta. Miss ina Cameron wore a simple frock of white crepe-de-chinc, relieved with a pink rose and carried a bouquet of sweet peas, a present limn Master Trevor Hyland. A large marquee was erected on the back lawn where the party sat down to a beautifullv-laid out supper, the main attraction being a ' wu-tier birthday cake, decorated with 21 pink and blue candles and a gold key. The candles were kept alight during the supper. Several toasts were proposed and drunk with musical honors.
