MEXICO AND AMERICA
OIL LEASE DISPUTE COOLIDGE OPPOSES ARBITRATION WASHINGTON, Jan. 21. President Coolidge has intimated that he is opposed to arbitration with Mexico, despite the Senate Committee's resolution to that effect. He believes that if the public understood what the United States is contending for, viz., the inviolability of property rights, while Mexico is for confiscation, there would be no demand for arbitration. He feels, however, that the Senate resolution will perhaps complicate the situation.
