THE SECRETARY'S HAT.
To the Editor of the Qlobe.
Sir, —Allow me to set the public mind at rest about the lost hat, I beg to state that on the day that '' old hat" and the crowd were waiting outside of the sacred precincts of the secretary's office, I was interviewing him when he showed such unmistable signs of skeddadling by the back door, to avoid the rest, that I slipped his hat under my coat, to prevent his doing so, and I placed it where it was found. It is a pity that a fifth clerk was not sent to church to seek the lost hat. Yours, &c, M. P. C.
