CRICKET.
The first match of this season, creating interest in cricketing circles, takes place on Saturday next, on the Hagley Park ground, between the United Canterbury C. C. and the Christchurch C.C., and judging from the respective merits of the names published below, we ought with good weather, to witness some good cricket. There is, no doubt, that on paper the IT. 0.0 have a decidedly better team, both as regards batting and bowling, the Christchurch C,C. being particularly weak in the latter, but have a very fair fielding team, with a few good bats.
