COINCIDENCES.
To the Editor of the Globe. SiR, —A correspondent of your morning contemporary, whose letter smacks somewhat of stale paste, indulges in a fling at the Editors of the Globe and Weekly Press for reprinting an article from the Pioneer, which he (the correspondent) had sent specially to the Lyttelton Times. This strikes said correspondent as being a coincidence. It may be; but as other persons in the province whom I happen to be acquainted with receive copies of the Indian newspaper Pioneer, as well as the correspondent of the Lyttelton Times, it is not so much of a coincidence after all for the Editors of the Globe and Weeldy Press who receive Indian files at first hand to reprint what they consider suitable to their columns—even the article which the Lyttelton Times correspondent considers so highly privileged. As the correspondent alluded to seems to be a collector of " coincidences," in the same way as boys gather up old stamps, pray let me favour him with two:—lst. A paragraph referring to the Nelson hot springs which appeared in the Press on January 29th, was reprinted into a Nelson paper and carefully reproduced in Lyttelton Times of February 15th, very probably also going through the late editions of Star and Canterbury Times. 2nd, A paragraph furnished to one of the reporters last week, which ought to have appeared in Press of Wednesday last, but did not come out till Thursday, was duly reprinted almost verbatim in Lyttelton limes of Friday, the information which it contained being obtainable only from one source. Yours, &c, TIT FOR TAT.
