The Lochiel arrived on October 27th at Dunedin, from Mauritius, with a cargo of 14,000 mats of sugar, 7000 of which are for this.port. The barque Coq du Village, Captain Edmonds, sailed for Newcastle yesterday morning, but had to fetch up at the Heads again ; about 5 p.m. however, the wind changed to the S.W. and she got away. The s.s. Ladybird, Captain Andrew, left Port Chalmers at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday last; experienced light easterly winds, arriving in harbor at 2 p.m. The Fiery Cross, schooner. Captain Abrams, arrived in harbor yesterday at 1.30 p.m., from Picton. She left that port at 10 a.m. on the 29th instant ; experienced moderate N.W. winds; passed Cape Campbell at 6 p.m. same day, then light southerly which lasted till her arrival as above. The three-masted schooner Garron, Captain Stephen, arrived in harbor on Saturday evenin''- at nine o’clock. She left Mauritius on September 16th, experienced strong westerly gales till making the Snares on Monday, October 25th ; then light E, andN.E winds; passed Dunedin Heads on”26th, made Godley Head at 10 a.m. on Friday last, and arrived as above. The Union Company’s s.s. Maori, Captain Malcolm, left Dunedin wharf at 4.45 p.m. on the 29th, and Port Chalmers at 6.30 p.m. same day ; arrived at Timaru at 7.30 a.m. next morning, discharged 90 tons general cargo, and left at 6.40 p.in.;t'or Akaroa; arrived at 4.30 a.m. on 31st, and lett again at 6.4() a.m, arriving at Lyttelton at 11.30 a.m. yesterday ; experienced N.E. wind throughout the passage; sighted a large ship bound north, a few miles to the northward of Port Chalmers Hoads, but were too far off to make her out. We have to thank Mr R. Mathias for report. The Maori sails lor Timaru and Port Chalmers, taking cargo for West Coast ports, to-day at 4 p.m. The s.s. St Kilda, Captain Flowerday, arrived in harbour on Saturday at 8 a.m., from Dunedin, via Kakanui and Oamaru. She left Dunedin at 7 p.m on the 27th, and arrived at Kakanui at daylight, next morning; left at 9 a.m., and arrived at Oamaru at 11 a.m.; left at 9 a.m. on the 29th. She experienced light N.E. winds from Dunedin to Oamaru; from Oamaru light S.E. winds till her arrival as above. She sailed for Wanganui at 4 30 p.m. on Saturday. The barque Adelphoi, Captain Gregory.from Newcastle, arrived early on Saturday morning. She left Newcastle on the 16th, and had variable winds, jprjiclpally from the northward, till Cape Farewell

was made on the 22nd. When off the Cape experienced a fresh blow from the N.N.E., with thick rain, which lasted three dajs; the wind then became westerly, and she ran through the Straits on Wednesday last before it. Was off the Kaikot as the same night, and sighted a number of vessels. There were six brigs (including the Transport and Fawn), three barques, a ship (no doubt, ihc Waikato), and a number of small craft, all bound north Thence had light airs and calms till Friday, when Godley Head was sighted, and on .Saturday morning sailed up the harbor and anchored as above. The lino clipper barque Mary Blair, 328 tons. Captain James Kiddle, one of ilie finest vessels of her class that ever dropped anchor in these waters, arrived in harbor on Friday, after a slashing passage ol nine days from Hobart Town. Stic brings a cargo ot timber, palings, fruit, &c. which is consigned to Messrs P. Cunningham and Co, Saunders and Henderson, and W. Montgomery. Reports leaving Hobart Town at noon on the 10th instant, witli a fresh N.W. gale, which carried the vessel down the river. Had moderate S. to E.S.E. winds, with rain and thick weather, tlie whole way across to the land. Passed Solandcra at 7am. on the 2Gth with fresh S.W. winds; ran through the Straits with fresh N.W. winds; passed Dunedin heads at 3 a.in. on the 27th ; during that day hud moderate northerly winds; stood in, and made Oamaru; during the night had fresh S.E. winds. The Peninsula was sighted at daylight on the 28th, arriving as above. As has been before stated in these columns, the Mary Blair has had a thorough overhau at Hobart Town; and therefore arrives in port in splendid order. She was berthed alongside No 2 wharf yesterday evening. We have to thank Captain Riddle for his report and a file of the Hobart Town papers. ENGLISH SHIPS. A large ship bound north, was sighted by the g.s. Maori on Friday night, a few miles north of Port Chalmers. There is little doubt this will prove to be the Himalaya now due, being ninety-nine days out, as she left Plymouth on July 24ih. The Lutterworth was hull down when the Adelphoi arrived in harbor on Saturday morning.
