San Francisco Mail.— The City of San Francisco will arrive in Lyttelton from Dunedin on Thursday next, and will leave for the North with the outward mail at 4 p.m.

Political News —The Press correspondent telegraphed last night as follows: “ The Argus says Messrs Pyke and T. Kelly are the Government whips, but it is more likely that Mr Bunny will act in his old capacity. The Piako Swamp debate is expected to close to-morrow. The committees re the two disputed elections are to be ap* pointed to-morrow." Grain’s Bay. —The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Hand of Friendship Lodge, M.U.1.0 0.F., for the election of officers for the ensuing term, took place on Wednesday evening last, when the following appointments were made:—Bro G. Bishop, N.G.; Bro R. Gilbert, VG.; Bro B. W. Harris, R. ; and Bro J. W. Wells, L.S. to N.G. Bro H. Sefton, R.S., and Bro J. Whitford, L S., to V.G. ; Bro W. Thacker, W., and Bro S. Harris, I.G. The N.G. and V.G. were reappointed sick visitors. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers, and to P.G. Johnstone, Loyal Good Intent Lodge, for being present on the occasion.

Lydia Howaede Burlesque Troupe.— Owing to the illness of Miss Howarde, the bill at the Music Hall last evening had to be changed from “ Kenilworth” to “ Lucia di Lammermoor.” Mr Towle apo’ogised for the change, and afterwards appeared as Edgar very successfully, both singing and acting well throughout. The other parts, especially Miss Nye as Henry Ashton, Mdlle Navaro as Bucklaw, and Mr Power as Lucy Ashton, were well filled. The farce of “Ho w to settle accounts with your laundress,” in which Mr Power and Miss Nye were very good, concluded the performance. To-night “Kenilworth,’ will be produced. The Kaiapoi Episcopalian Church Bazaar, —This bazaar was continued in the institute on Saturday, and was to have ended with a sale but Mr Buss, auctioneer, was too unwell to attend. The amounts received at the various stalls are:—Refreshment, £ls 10s sd; Mrs Birch and Mrs Rose, £4O 9s 3d; Mrs Perrin, Mrs Venables, and Miss M, Wilson, £l3 9s; Mrs Bell and the Misses Mahoney, £lB Is 3d; Sunday school children, £7 3s lOd; Mr Cox (produce), £lO 14s; Mr Hewlings (Samoan exhibition), £1 16s 6d; and admissions, £lO 6s; total, £ll7 10s 3d. The accounts connected with Mrs and Miss Dale’s stall had not yet been made up. The amount received will more than ..pay for the organ, and the treasurer of the fund hopes to be able in a few days to publish a balance-sheet. I 0.0. F, M.U.—The half yearly meeting of the Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge, 1.0.0. F, M.U, took place last evening at the hall. During the evening N.G. Bradwell presented certificates of merit, neatly framed, to P.G’s Jones, Thin, Olephane, and Past B.S. Jackson, who briefly returned thanks for the honor done them. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing term :—G.M., Bro A. T. W. Bradwell ; N.G., Bro A. Wilson; V.Q., Bro 0. Wilkin ; 8.5., Bro Leahy ; auditors, Bros Farrow, Clephane, and Leahy ; lecture master, Bro A. T. W. Bradwell. The installation was conducted by Provincial C.S, Selig and P.P.G M. Kent. The committee appointed bj the lodge to report on the Friendly Societies Bill brought up their report. The total receipts of the evening were £l6l-'lss 6d.
