UNITED NATIONS FAIR

A meeting of the convenors of the United Nations Fair, which were elected by a representative gathering of the various trades, professions, etc., last week, was held last night in the Council Chambers. The following committees were elected to complete the various functions of the fair:—

Advertising and Publicity: Mr. M. B. Charteris (newspaper), Mr. H. Rollinson (broadcasting). Mr. J. A. iMclnroe (screen advertising). Ball Committee: Messrs A. R. Lindbom, W. Mcßean, A. Christiansen, J. Duncan, B. Watkin, D. Hogarth, Miss Lindop, Mrs. L. McGlashan and the W.W.S.A. Central Committee: Mr. E. A. Kitchingham (Mayor)., Mr. F. W. Baillie, Mrs. F. W. Shallcrass, one representative from Brunner, Runanga, Grey County, two from each Queen Committee, and one other to be appointed. Tug-o-War Committee: Messrs P. C. Peters, Tom Coll, W. Gieseking, F. Costello, Mick McDonald, Constable Cloak. , Axemen’s Committee: Camerons Sports Club, with power to add. Mock Court: Messrs T. P. Ryan, L. McGlashan, Jack Griffen to act in conjunction with the collectors of the town street appeal. Procession Committee: Mr. O. Mclean, Rev. Bro Chanel and Mr. A. Greaney with power to add.

Entertainment Committee: Messrs T. Anderson, W. Ford and J. Duffy, with power to add.

The 'convenors reduced the subcommittees to a minimum to enable the Queen Committees to draw from the delegates present at the public meeting held on May 5, and it was decided that those delegates and their respective organisations are to be urged to concentrate on the work oi the respective Queen Committees. The Old Boys’ Association stated that, their meeting room would be at the disposal for meetings on any night other than Tuesday and every other Monday.
