Ferocious Prize-Fight.
A most desperate and fiercely-con-tested prize-fight took place at Berkeley Castle, in the vale of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, the principals being Shoni Engineer, the well-known Welsh middle-weight champion, from Swansea, and a pugilist from Bristol, named White. Eye-witnesses describe the fight as being pf the most brutal yet spirited character, 80 rounds in all being fought, and both men seemed determined to do their best, regardless of all consequences. For the first 40 rounds it appeared nearly certain that Bhoni Engineer would win. With one terrible blow he knocked White’s eye out on his cheek. Yet, notwithstandthis fact, he continued to struggle on. Each of thepugilists pounded theother unmercifully, and suffered such injuries that they were covered with blood. Shoni Engineer, though more muscular, was unable to stand the prolonged tussle, and at the. 80th round he was obliged to own himself beaten.
