Twice Two?
jTOjTHB EDITOR. I Sib, —Without intending disrespect to any of those gentlemen who take an interest in sporting matters, I wish to remark on a matter which has been much talked of, but which no one appears to comment on openly owing to a delicacy of feeling. Without the intention of being indelicate, but at the risk of becoming so, I must say that I think the way the offices are monopolised in the different race clubs is very far from the way things should be. Mr Bennett, for instance, is handicapper, judge, and steward of the Waerenga-a-nika Jockey Olub, and he is also handicapper in the,big club, Mr Bennett, I believe, is well suited for the position of handicapper, but is it right that he should allow himself to be nominated for so many positions ? I single him out because his case is the most prominent one, but it is, in a lesser degree, just the same all round. Year after year the same men occupy the same offices, and so it goes on in the one dreary, fixed way, It isn’t right. Wai?
