And yet some say our laws are not liberal enough . ’ A schoolmaster in London, who flogged a boy and got heavily fined in the police court, has succeeded on appeal in getting a decision in his favor. The Middlesex Sessions held that although the lad was beaten severely, his eonduct merited severity, and they therefore nnsshad the conviction. It follows, therefore, tout within reasonable bounds schoolmasters may administer corporal punishment.
