Sporting Notes.
[By Manuka, j Since I wrote last, things have taken a change, and some local blood has changed hands also. Mr D. Hepburn, now our leading sportsman, having purchased that magnificent colt Turihau—without doubt, a thorough racehorse—also, the little daughter of Foul Play and Aconite, Pouawa. She, perhaps, will open our eyes before long. Mr Stevens, the V.S., has taken the little orphan, Fitz-James, in hand, and perhaps it will be a change for the better. Myth is at concert pitch, but she is kept dark. Darnley is banging along in grand form, and can’t he fence ! Privateer has a canter sometimes ; I think he is intended for Boxing Day. Nora and the Flying Filley work in private; still, I think that Nora is about fit. Cairngorm is getting into form fast, but he has not been wound up yet. Ariel looks well, though rather big, but he jumps like a deer. Impostor is all the go, and I think he will be about favorite for the hurdles. Off Chance has gone lame, while Bit of Blue has got the same complaint. The Moor looks well, and I think he will run a good horse.
