Melbourne, October 29, Whakawai did his last long work before the Cup this morning, and was given a strong two miles and a quarter gallop, going splendidly. Vespasia, Wil iam Tell, and T.W., have been scratched for the Cup.

Christchurch, yesterday. St. Clair and British Lion commenced work this morning with a good three-quarter pace gallop for two miles. Both moved well. St. Clair subsequently a little lame.
