N.Z. ANTIMONY COMPANY.
THE ECONOMIST CONDEMNS THE COMPANY’S PURCHASES. SHORT-SIGHTEDNESS OF NEW ZEALAND LEGISLATORS. Londoh, Jan. 21. The Economist condemns the Antimony Company’s purchases on the ground that they were made without testing the vendor's statement. It asserts the Company has already suffered the penalty of its weakness by a heavy loss from non-delivery. The Economist also complains of the shortsightedness of New Zealand legislators In taxing capital which does not yield a profit, to which it attributes the withdrawal of money from the colony.
