RECOVERY OF WOOL FROM A WRECK. London, Feb. 9. There have been recovered 2000. bales of wool from the wreck of the ship Sir Walter Raleigh, and it is expected that farther salvage will be made. CONFERENCE ON SAMOAN AFFAIRS. The Conference on Samoan affairs will be held in London. THE SUGAR BOUNTIES. Baron de Worms states that the Sugar Bounties Bill will receive prompt despatch next session. Baron de Worms also states that the Government will legislate in the direction of enforcing the penalties under the Sugar Bounties Convention. THE GEFFCKEN TROUBLE. Berlin, Feb. 9. The prosecution of the Kreiz Zeitung, instructed by Prince Bismarck, for its comments on the Geffcken indictment, has been abandoned. FRENCH POLITICS. Paris, Feb. 9. The Chamber of Deputies has upheld the action of M. Floquet, Premier, in resisting priorty being given to the question of reverting to the scrutin d'arrondissement. CANADIAN AFFAIRS.
Ottawa, Feb. 9. It is stated that Sir John McDonald will shoitly resign the Premiership, and also that Sir Charles Tupper will lead the Conservative members. The question of annexation to the United States will shortly be referred to the electors.
