The prosecution of the Kreiz Zeitung, instructed by Prince Bismarck, for its comments on the Geffcken indictment, has been abandoned. FRENCH POLITICS. Paris, Feb. 9. The Chamber of Deputies has upheld the action of M. Floquet, Premier, in resisting priorty being given to the question of reverting to the scrutin d'arrondissement. CANADIAN AFFAIRS.

Ottawa, Feb. 9. It is stated that Sir John McDonald will shoitly resign the Premiership, and also that Sir Charles Tupper will lead the Conservative members. The question of annexation to the United States will shortly be referred to the electors.
