Carew, M,P. for Kildare, has been aenienced to four months’ imprisonment on a charge of inciting tenants to commit breaches of the law. He is imitating the action of Mr O'Brien by refusing to wear prison garb and opposing the prison regulations. In the House of Commons Baron de Worms, replying to Mr Redmond, said that the Chinese question had not advanced in the direction of a satisfactory settlement, The police have been acquitted from blame in connection with the false imprisonment of the two alleged rectory burglars. Sir John Hall has been interviewed by a representative of the Pall Ma i Gazette, Sir John said that a defensive federation was desirable. It was a fiscal dream of Australia to support England in a war on colonial account, but it was doubtful whether support would be obtained for a European war.
