COALMINERS’ STRIKES.
CONTINUED ANXIETY. A CONFLICT-ONE MAN KILLED. London, May 19. The coalminers’ strikes continue to be the cause of much anxiety. Nearly half the Westphalia miners have agreed to a compromise with the colliery proprietors, and have returned to work. However, the strikers in Silesia have got their blood up, and there are great fears ot their coming in desperate contact with the police. In fact in one instance a conflict did occur, during which there was some rough work, and one of the miners was put beyond all earthly grievances, with a charge of lead through his body, The trouble is being felt nearer home, foe the Northumberland miners have now gone out, and have made communications of sympathy with those in Westphalia.
