SPORTING NEWS.

(BT “ WILLOW.”) It is no easy task to tip the winners of the three events the entries for which are known. Almost every horse entered has admirers, and as totalisator speculation will be freely indulged in good " divs ” may be anticipated. I fancy that the Hurdle Race will at the finish be most exciting, but, notwithstanding this, shall pin my faith to— ARIEL. The Flying Handicap is another puzzle for the knowing division, and I expect to see every horse in it well backed. lam of opinion that “ blood will tell,” and as there is no better bred one in the district than the son of Perkin Warbeck, I shall select— IMPOSTOR. For the Birthday Handicap there is another lot of " all [favorites.” Notwithstanding the impost many fancy Fitzjames, equally as many Criminal’s chance. In fact all the others are fancied by those who know don’t-cher-know. I think the chestnut can pull off the double, and so again spot as the winner— IMPOSTOR. There is one game bit of stuff in the above event that must not be overlooked, and that is Titbit, who I look upon as a most dangerous opponent to my selection. Owners of horses must not forget that in consequence of the shortness of the days it has been wisely decided to start the first race punctually at 11.30, and the Secretary informs me that the time for each event, as advertised, will be closely adhered to.
