LONDON TURF SCANDAL.

London, Juns 20. In consequence of the disclosures in connection with the turf scandal now before the Court, it is believed it will lead to the disqualification of the trainer Sherard and the jockey Wood.

This dispute, which originally took the form of a libel action brought by Sir George Chetwynd against the Earl of Durham arose out of certain accusations ma-de by the Earl of Durham at the meeting of the Newmarket Jockey Club in February, 1888. The Earl publicly accused Sir George Chetwynd of being in league with a trainer and jockey to win money by making their horses win or lose races us the bets suited. Wood was also accused of being concerned with other nefarious turf transactions, and brought an action against the Licensed Victuallers’ Gazette, obtaining }d. damages, without costs, against which verdict he instituted an appeal, but the c„ae was eventually Bottled by compromise, as was another action which Wood instituted against Lord Durham.
